Date May 31, 2019 08:06

Backgroung: Tetrapleura tetraptera (Schum. & Thonn.) may be a plant used historically in African country for the management of convulsions, leprosy, inflammation and rheumatism. The fruit has varied applications in Nigerian people medication ANd is employed extensively for treatment of an array of human ailments as well as high blood pressure, arthritis, DM, and encephalopathy.

Aim: so as to gift scientific proof for the ethno-medical claims, this study was conducted to spot the active ingredients in Tetrapleura tetraptera (Schum. & Thonn.).

Methods: The stem bark and leaves of the plant were extracted with ninety five nothing plant product and each crude extracts were fractionated.

Results: 5 compounds were isolated from the stem bark and leaf of the plant extracts, happiness to the sterols, saponins, mono-N-acetylglycoside, a open chain fatty alcohol and a natural pigment were isolated supported their 1H, 13C, second proton magnetic resonance and FTIR spectra.

Conclusion: a lot of compounds ought to be isolated from alternative bioassay-guided fractions, subjected to biological and medicine studies to research the medicative potential of Tetrapleura tetraptera. Also, derivatives of the isolated compounds ought to be synthesized to enhance on its activity.
